Canvas Tarpaulins - Tan (18OZ)
A traditional style 100% cotton canvas tarpaulin made from single filled cotton duck. These tarpaulins are imported from India, and are wax processed to make them water resistant. Seams and hems are single-stitched, and brass eyelets are spaced at 2ft intervals (60cms) in reinforced tabs. The weight of the proofed canvas is 18oz, or approx 610gsm.
Fabricated from a natural fabric, these hardy tarps are breathable; however please bear in mind that an amount of shrinkage can occur where canvas tarpaulins are subject to varying temperatures, it is advisable to weather the tarpaulin prior to use. Canvas tarpaulins will require re-treating after exposure to water, in order to maintain their resistant properties. Please note that these covers are not waterproof, but are water resistant. This means that they will resist water, but only to a point. For more information on our Canvas range, click here.
Our tan canvas is also available on a roll, size 6ft x 80ft / 1.8m x 24m. Popular with tarpaulin fabricators, the Canvas roll is sold without eyelets, hems or seams. We can provide 10oz unproofed fabric, or 18oz wax-proofed.
These tarpaulins are wax-proofed and have been dyed, and so there can be a risk of colour transference upon application - please take caution.
We do not recommend that these tarpaulins are suspended solely by the eyelets if using as an outdoor canopy, our lighter weight CP Wax and poly cotton tarps are suggested as preferred options for outdoor canopies. If using as a canopy it is highly recommended to use a ridge line, or a couple ridge lines on larger sizes, made of rope or bungee which will help support the weight of the tarp. This will also help with a run-off of water as water can pool if tarps are suspended only by the eyelets, adding extra pressure and weight. Use as many of the eyelets provided and install additional eyelets if required, especially if there are stress points. We do not recommend to tightly fasten rope to the eyelets as this can cause additional pressure and weaken the eyelets, elasticated bungee cord is suggested.

Please Note: Our 18oz canvas tarpaulin sizes are 'finished' sizes but the final size can be up to 5-10 cms (2"-4") shorter. It is recommended to weather your tarp prior to usage as the tarp will be subject to some shrinkage, weathering also helps the tarp tighten to any stitching points. Most tarps will have a seam as they are fabricated by stitching several pieces of canvas together.

Please Note: All our tarpaulin sizes are 'cut sizes' which is industry standard terminology for the size of the material before it is fabricated into a tarpaulin. Therefore expect the 'finished' size to be up to 30 cms shorter, and up to 45cm on very large sizes. Most tarps will have a seam as they are fabricated by heat sealing several pieces of polyethylene together.
